Activity Report
Location: Hyderabad
Date: 12th Sept 2025
1. Introduction
The Bioenzyme Entrepreneurs Association (BEA), in collaboration with Thomson Reuters and Youth for Seva, successfully organized a Lake Cleaning Initiative in Hyderabad. This initiative was undertaken to address pressing concerns of water pollution, restore aquatic health, and create awareness among communities about sustainable solutions like floating wetlands and bioenzymes.
2. Objectives
-
To clean and rejuvenate the lake through community-driven sustainable practices.
-
To demonstrate floating wetland technology as a natural water purification method.
-
To educate and engage youth in eco-friendly practices via a Bioenzyme (BE) awareness session.
-
To build long-term corporate-community partnerships for ecological restoration.
3. Activities Conducted
a) Lake Cleaning and Floating Wetland Installation
-
Volunteers from Thomson Reuters and Youth for Seva actively participated in cleaning the lake premises.
-
A floating wetland unit was designed and installed in the lake. These wetlands act as natural filters by absorbing excess nutrients and promoting biodiversity.
-
The installation process was hands-on, engaging participants in both learning and execution.
b) Bioenzyme Awareness & Demonstration Session
-
BEA resource persons conducted an interactive Bioenzyme session, highlighting the role of bioenzymes in water purification and environmental sustainability.
-
Participants were shown the process of making bioenzymes from organic waste and their applications in water, soil, and home care.
-
A Q&A round allowed participants to share thoughts and ideas on scaling such solutions.
c) Youth Engagement & Participation
-
Students and volunteers took part enthusiastically, reflecting a strong interest in eco-restoration practices.
-
The session also included discussions on responsibility towards natural resources and ways to adopt sustainable habits in daily life.
4. Outcomes & Impact
-
Successful installation of floating wetlands, which will improve water quality over time by reducing pollutants naturally.
-
Increased awareness among volunteers and youth on sustainable waste-to-resource solutions like bioenzymes.
-
Strengthened partnerships between corporate (Thomson Reuters), NGOs (Youth for Seva), and community-based initiatives (BEA).
-
Inspiration for replication: The initiative sets a precedent for similar interventions in other urban lakes.
5. Way Forward
-
Monitoring the performance of the installed floating wetland over the coming months.
-
Conducting periodic awareness sessions and engaging local communities for sustained lake care.
-
Exploring larger-scale bioenzyme applications for urban water bodies.
-
Expanding collaboration with educational institutions to involve more youth in such ecological initiatives.
6. Acknowledgements
We extend our sincere gratitude to:
-
Thomson Reuters for their corporate support and active employee participation.
-
Youth for Seva for mobilizing volunteers and facilitating community engagement.
-
All students, volunteers, and BEA members who contributed their time, energy, and commitment to the cause.
Together, we have taken another meaningful step towards building a cleaner, healthier, and sustainable environment. πΏπ§
