On 17th September 2025, the Bioenzyme Entrepreneurs Academy of India had the privilege of conducting a hands-on workshop at B.M.S. College of Engineering (BMSCE), Bangalore as part of Phase Shift 2025 — the annual technical fest. This year’s theme, “Meridian: Sustainably Yours”, provided the perfect platform to engage young engineers in conversations about sustainability and eco-friendly innovations.
The workshop, titled “Why, What and How of Bioenzyme”, witnessed an enthusiastic response with 125 students registering for the session. It was jointly organized by the Department of Biotechnology and the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The Bioenzyme Entrepreneurs team introduced the participants to the science of bioenzymes, their preparation, and the wide range of applications in everyday life, agriculture, and waste management.
The session began with an exploration of the “Why” — the need to adopt natural alternatives to reduce chemical pollution and move towards sustainable living. The “What” component focused on understanding the composition of bioenzymes, the fermentation process, and the role of fruit peels and jaggery in creating eco-friendly solutions. Finally, the “How” segment was made interactive through demonstrations, enabling students to experience the ease and effectiveness of preparing bioenzymes themselves.
Students actively engaged throughout the workshop, asking insightful questions and participating with great enthusiasm. Many expressed surprise at the versatility of bioenzymes — as natural cleaners, pest repellents, and agricultural enhancers. Their feedback indicated not only curiosity but also a strong willingness to experiment with bioenzymes in their own projects and households. Notably, a few students showed keen interest in pursuing internships with the Bioenzyme Entrepreneurs Academy to deepen their knowledge and contribute further to this sustainable movement.
Certificates of participation were provided to all students, acknowledging their involvement and encouraging them to continue exploring sustainable practices.
This event would not have been possible without the support of Dr. Rajeshwari Hegde, whose initiative and encouragement allowed Bioenzyme Entrepreneurs to be part of Phase Shift 2025 as sustainability partners. Her vision of integrating environmental responsibility into technical education is truly commendable.
The success of this workshop not only highlights the growing interest of youth in green technologies but also strengthens the mission of Bioenzyme Entrepreneurs to build a sustainable future by spreading awareness, creating opportunities, and empowering the next generation of change-makers.
